Day 17 Barcelona: Picasso & Miro Museums

It was a wonderful day of art.  We started out at the Picasso Museum.

There were a number of paintings on display when Picasso was 14 years old.  He was definitely gifted.  I had never seen such early work of his.

When Picasso lived in Cannes he started messing around with doing his own take on Velasquez's Las Meninas.

There are 57 paintings of the Las Meninas series--all together at this museum.

They also said when Picasso got tired of working on the  Las Meninas series, he started painting pigeons that were in a coup on his balcony.  I had never seen any of these paintings and fell in love with them.

In the afternoon, we went up to Montjuic to the Miro Foundation.  We started with a beautiful lunch overlooking a garden.

The range of work was amazing.

So were the views from the museum.

This was another outstanding day.
