Day 14: Hop On Hop Off Barcelona

Today we decided to get an overview of Barcelona so we took the Hop On/Hop Off Bus.  Barcelona has 3 routes, so we really saw a lot.  No hopping off--just getting a view of the city.

We started on the Paseo de Gracia, where there are a number of Art Nouveau homes--or Modernista as they are called here. These are from the architects Gaudi, Domenech i Montaner, and Puig i Cadafalch.    It's an incredible street.

Then there was this super contemporary building.

We went by Guadi's famous Sagrada Familia church that won't be finished until 2026.  We'll be visiting it on another day.

There are so many amazing buildings in this city.

Here's a view from Montjuic.

We also went by the Barcelona Soccer Stadium.

There also is a lot of public art.  Here's a Lichtenstein and Miro.

We ended up by getting off the bus at a the beach.  We checked out the Barcelona Casino with the "big fish" and had a lovely dinner.

When we got back to Placa Catalunya there was a tribute to Michael Jackson going on.
