Yesterday my camera broke. I loved this camera that has taken me through Afghanistan, Norway, Eastern Europe, Israel, South Africa, and India. When I turned on the camera the zoom would start going in and out on its own and I couldn't get into any of the settings. Unfortunately, this camera is no longer being made--a newer more expensive camera has taken its place. I went online and from what I can figure there may be about 50-100 new cameras of this type left on the planet. One of them happened to be at Fotopro right here in Valencia.
I was so relieved to get another version of my Lumix FZ200. The owners of the store were wonderful. My Spanish is pretty pitiful, but it's getting better each day. It allowed me to get through this purchase with ease.
The camera store was right next to the North Train Station--it's a beautiful building.
We then went to the central market. A huge, wonderful, melange of food and drink.
The ceiling window is spectacular.
We can see the main road circling the city from our balcony. We have heard and seen all kinds of mini parades coming from the main street going down our street toward the main square.
Today when we heard a band, we went out and found a basketball team and enthusiastic fans.
Later in the day we ran into the team again and tons of fans at the Valencia City Hall. We found out they won the all-Spain league for the first time in history. It was really fun talking with the fans who kept wanting us to drink beer with them.
The square was filled with the second day of Corpus Christi celebrations. There was a play put on by local teens who were really good. From 11:00-12:00 PM there was a concert. We had dinner listening to the orchestra.
People decorate their balconies for the celebration. When this group came out, everyone on the square cheered for them.
After the concert ended, a teen band that was GREAT played in the street. You can get an idea of how many people were packed in the square.
While sitting on our balcony this great hat came strolling by.
